A Doctor's Gift: Serving with Sign Language

A beautiful story from our church community inspires us to keep learning and serving with whatever resources we have. Dr. Joy Lim, already accomplished in her field, has embarked on a new journey by taking Filipino Sign Language (FSL) classes to minister to the Deaf and hard of hearing during worship services. Despite the challenges, she exemplifies the spirit of lifelong learning, showing that when one is truly captured by the calling of the Lord, there is no barrier to acquiring new skills or pursuing new passions.

Despite expressing how much she still lacks in skill, and how much she still has yet to learn in the field, she exudes joy, grace and confidence that can only be found in resting upon the Lord.  Her decision to use her newfound skills in worship is a testament to giving her utmost to God, even when to her, it seems small.

Just like the biblical story of the five loaves and two fish, her efforts remind us that even the smallest offerings, when given with a willing heart, can be multiplied and used by God in extraordinary ways. Her commitment is creating a ripple effect of kindness and inclusivity, inspiring others to serve with whatever they have, and reminding us that every contribution counts when given with faith and trust.
